Actually, isn't this really a search for the discovery of the real self-whatever this thing is that stands back of all our actions and commands them; man, not as we see him objectively or in the physical world, but as he really is? When we see him as he really is we discover that he is made up of a physical body which we see and which occupies a definite space and has dimension; next, we find that back of this there is a non-dimensional mind, something we don't see at all (and we know if we were to rob him of this mind he wouldn't exist at all, even his body would immediately begin to disintegrate); next, we are led to believe that just as his physical body is composed of the same ultimate stuff that all physical form is made of, so his mind must be rooted in some larger realm. Since man is whole, is a unity of mind and body, we must look above and beyond to that Something which we call Spirit, that Something which both uses and is mind and body.
You will want to demonstrate for yourself that there is something within, invisible but real, that is the dominating and creative factor of body, mind, and situations. This, of course, is our search and we shall never be satisfied until we have proved it by creating a new world of experience for ourselves.
In order to do this we shall be compelled to follow the pathway of all scientific investigation and discovery. We have to be as little children and realize that there is a Power greater than we are, even though we use It, and know that there is an Intelligence beyond our conscious knowledge which flows through us.
The Science of Mind is like all other sciences, being based on a principle, and a technique or a way of using it. We must accept the principle and use the technique. It was laid down for us many generations ago by someone who said that it is done unto us as we believe, which of course implies that there is something that can do it but that this something, so far as we are concerned, is limited to our acceptance. This is where we must become as a little child. And this millions of people are now learning to do. A sign of the times is that psychological laboratories are proving the power of affirmative prayer, prayer that is entirely free from dogmas, criticism, condemnation, judgment, and fear.
