Faith not only lays hold of a power which actually exists, it causes this power to respond as though it were a law of good operating for you. Why shouldn’t we have an unlimited faith in life? It had intelligence enough to make everything, including ourselves; it governs by laws, which control everything, including ourselves.

And now, because we need it so much, and because we feel we can no longer live without it, we are going to act as though it were right here, always responding to us, loving us in spite of our mistakes.

The disciples of Jesus watched him in his ministry among the sick and among the multitudes who heard him so gladly. They had seen new light come into the eyes of those whose vision had been dulled. They had seen a new energy flowing through the limbs of those who had been paralyzed. They had seen the lame walk, the dumb speak and the deaf hear. And so they asked him to teach them how to pray.
